Schedule¶
Write the Docs is more than a conference. Each year we organize a wide range of events so that people can come together, collaborate, and learn from each other in different ways.
All conference events (except the hike & social event) will be held at Crystal Ballroom located at 1332 W Burnside St.
Saturday, May 18¶
Hike¶
The only event scheduled on Saturday is the annual hike. If you get into town early, join us on the hike and take the chance to explore Portland in all of its glory.

Sunday, May 19¶

Writing Day¶
Get together with other documentarians and work on an open source project and learn some new skills.
The Writing Day introduction will be at 9:30. This is the time where you can introduce the projects you will be working on to get others to join you.

Reception¶
We encourage everyone to drop by on Sunday evening for the conference reception. You’ll have a chance to get acquainted with each other over some drinks and snacks, and pick up your badge so you can skip the line in the morning. Note that we are not able to accommodate additional guests at this event.

Welcome Wagon Introduction¶
Is this your first time at Write the Docs? Join us for an informal Introduction to Write the Docs, to the Welcome Wagon, and to other first-time conference attendees. We’ll pass on some information about the conference specifically for first-timers and give everyone a chance to meet someone new, before we join the opening reception.

Monday, May 20¶

Venue tours¶
Come on a short tour of the venue with a veteran Write the Docs attendee so you’ll know where everything is and everything you can take part in.

Unconference¶
Have in depth discussions about a large number of topics. This is scheduled on the day of, so please suggest your own session!

The “main event” – we’ll have a variety of speakers on the stage sharing their experience and knowledge.

Monday Night Social¶
The official Write the Docs social! This event is for conference attendees only, so please bring your badge to be let into the venue. There will be light snacks and drinks available on the conference while our tab lasts.

Tuesday Schedule¶
Welcome Wagon check-in¶
Meet back up with the Welcome Wagon and fellow first-timers to check-in about how the conference is going for you. Ask any questions you have, pass on stories from your first day, and let the Welcome Wagon know if there is anything you need to make your second day as successful as your first one.

Job Fair¶
We’ll be holding a job fair on Tuesday morning. Many of our sponsors will have booths where you can learn more about the jobs they have available.
