Meet the team¶
Our conference is organized by a dedicated team, many of whom are volunteers and give their time to bring the community together around documentation! This page outlines these folks and what their roles are.
Swapnil Ogale (he/him)¶

Conference Chair¶
Swapnil has been tech writing since 2006, and initiated Write the Docs in Australia in 2016. He is fortunate enough to live in one of the world’s most liveable cities - Melbourne, Australia. While he is not travelling, trying out new food, or building a mini library by visiting bookshops, he works as a sernior technical writer at Amazon Web Services Australia.
Jared Morgan (he/him)¶
Emcee/Host¶
Jared has been a Technical Writer for about 17 years now. When he’s not helping organisations plan and deliver documentation as a product, he co-hosts the Write the Docs and BlahCade Pinball Podcasts, and restores pinball machines to their former glory.
Felicity Brand (she/her)¶

Fishbowl Coordinator¶
Felicity has been working as a technical communicator for 18 years. Based in Melbourne, Australia, she loves working in open source because it lets her work with writers and non-writers all over the world. Felicity is a keen knitter, crocheter and loves anything to do with yarn.
Jennifer Appleby (she/her)¶
Unconfererence coordinator¶
Jennifer has spent most of her working life as an IT geek in different forms. While she has been writing technical docs for most of those years, she has only been claiming the title for the last ten focusing on enterprise software. She spends far too much time sitting in front of a laptop, but sometimes manages to get out of the house to take in Melbourne’s galleries, markets and musicals.
Shiham Jamaldeen (he/him)¶

Registrations¶
Shiham is an experienced documentarian and budding full-stack web developer who recently joined the Write the Docs Australia crew. He enjoys travel, especially reading flight reviews and learning about aviation. He dreams of one-day writing flight manuals for Boeing or Airbus. He is based in Adelaide, Australia.
Wendy Rowe (she/her)¶
Volunteer Coordinator¶
Wendy is a technical writer in the software industry. After 20 years in London, Cambridge and the French Alps, she came back to live in Melbourne, and still pronounces ‘router’ and ‘data’ the ‘wrong’ way. She’s passionate about music, snow sports, and grammar.
Sam Wright (he/him)¶
Infrastructure Coordinator¶

Sam writes docs for developers. He is into making computers do the boring bits of writing so he can work on the fun bits. Sam has been organizing Write the Docs conferences for more than a few years now. He lives in Athens, Greece unless he’s off to a conference or death metal festival somewhere.
Mikey Ariel (she/her)¶
Brand Coordinator¶

Mikey is one of the original Write the Docs Prague conference organizers, and since the beginning of 2023 she has been serving as the chairperson of the global community board. She is an avid singer as well as a dancer, and has probably traveled across more of Europe than you have. Mikey is a content strategist and former technical writer at Red Hat, living in Prague.
