Conference Chair¶

Sasha is an independent developer and community organiser, mainly working on Python projects, many of them relating to internet infrastructure. They have organised various conferences, first joining the Write the Docs organising team in 2017. Among other things, she works on the website, and is chair of the Berlin conference.

Executive Producer¶

Katie Janovec is an Event Producer and Project Manager based in San Diego, California. She enjoys organizing a wide variety of events, including conferences, galas, block parties, music events, and more. For Katie, organizing events fosters community, connection, growth, and joy, and she loves to be a part of it! This will be her second Berlin conference and fifth Write the Docs conference.

Speaker Coordinator¶

Sam writes docs for developers. He is into making computers do the boring bits of writing so he can work on the fun bits. Sam has been organizing Write the Docs conferences for more than a few years now. He lives in Athens, Greece unless he’s off to a conference or death metal festival somewhere.

Sponsorship Coordinator¶

Eric is one of the co-founders of Write the Docs, and also one of the co-founders of the Read the Docs documentation platform. He is the primary chair of the Portland conference, and loves to talk all things docs.

Emcee¶

After a long career putting out fires in serious and businesslike companies in three countries, Abi is currently Senior (and lone) Technical Writer at Guerrilla Games in Amsterdam. She specializes in teaching people to write without being boring, making terrible puns, and advocating for readers. In her spare time, she binds books and indulges in other crafty activities.

Emcee¶

Andrea has been an advocate for technical communication since 2017, when she travelled to Portland for her first Write the Docs conference. She transplanted to Berlin from Los Angeles in 2021, returning to California whenever possible (it’s far). These days, you can find her at a WTD Berlin meetup. Come say hi!

Lightning Talks¶

Carolyn gave her first-ever lightning talk at Write the Docs Prague in 2017 and never quite left. Since then, she’s spoken and emceed at Write the Docs conferences in Prague and online, and now wrangles lightning talks in Berlin. She’s a developer experience engineer at emnify and one of the (striking) editors at The Berliner magazine.

Unconference coordinator¶

Aaron has been helping teams create helpful, clear, and consistent documentation since before his first Write the Docs conference in 2018. He currently edits the monthly Write the Docs newsletter. Outside of documentation, he cofounded an amateur community theater to present Czech plays in English in Brno.

Writing Day Coordinator¶

Based in Berlin, Dimple is thrilled to serve as a member of Write the Docs Berlin, something she’s wanted to do for as long as she’s known the community existed. She takes a hands-on approach to documentation, testing products end to end and surfacing bugs and UI improvements as part of her writing process, always starting from the user’s perspective to make docs that are easy to find, easy to use, and accessible to everyone. When she’s not writing docs, you’ll find her gardening, dancing, or biking long distances.

Stage Manager¶

Chris tells stories through documentation, blog posts, videos, books and more. In addition to docs and developer experience for developer tools, he is a podcaster, video maker, writer of interactive fiction, and games.

Janine is a documentation nerd up in Canada. She feels so lucky to help organize at Write the Docs so she can nerd out in Berlin too! She spends her time putting a lot of effort into complex documentation to make it look like it was easy all along, thinking about making inclusion efforts concrete, running unimpressive distances at unimpressive speeds, hiking, knitting, and swing dancing, albeit non-simultaneously. Her cat remains staunchly uninterested in all of this.

Welcome Wagon¶

Daniel is a documentation consultant who helps software engineering teams make tools, processes, and content to reach developer audiences. He’s a moderator for the Write the Docs Slack community. Daniel is rejoining the Welcome Wagon after previously volunteering at the Prague conferences. He lives in Amsterdam with his spouse, cat, and lots of cookbooks about bread.

Alicia loves to explain complex things in easy-to-understand ways and is passionate about harnessing the talent and collaborative spirit of others. She is currently Principal Technical Writer at Digi International, Inc., where she works closely (and remotely) with her internationally distributed development teams to document embedded Linux systems. She tends to be a human common denominator, bridging personalities and differences to bring people together.

Welcome Wagon¶

Dustin is a recovering academic, life-long language nerd, and documentarian who has now turned his focus to Cybersecurity. The Write the Docs community was integral during his move from the Washington, D.C. rat race to the Berlin start-up world in 2018 and he’s excited to give back this year as part of the Organizer Team. This is Dustin’s 4th in-person conference and his 2nd in Berlin.

Virtual platform coordinator¶

Swapnil is fortunate enough to live in one of the world’s most liveable cities - Melbourne, Australia. When he is not travelling, trying out new food, binging on Seinfeld and Frasier reruns, or collecting books for his library, he works as a technical writer at Amazon Web Services Australia. He initiated Write the Docs in Australia in 2016 and has been happily running the local meetups and the annual conference since then.

Heather is a Philadelphia-based writer with a rich background in computer science and technical communication. By day, she programs, builds tools for engineers, and crafts clear, user-friendly documentation. By night, she trades keystrokes for knitting needles, cross-stitch, and other forms of needle witchcraft.
